Personal Backups

A private backup application for its operator’s own files.

Personal Backups uses restic and rclone to create encrypted backups in the operator’s Google Drive account. It uploads backup data, checks stored backups, downloads data for recovery, and removes obsolete backup objects according to the operator’s retention settings.

The application runs on the operator’s computers. This website describes the application; it does not provide a backup dashboard, sign-in form, or public registration.

Google Drive access

The application requests the drive.file permission. It uses this access to manage its backup files and folders, rather than requesting access to every file in Google Drive. Authorization takes place through Google’s sign-in service.
